In the Corel Painter tutorial, I demonstrate how to paint a dynamic and painterly monochrome oil sketch, directly from a photograph, using multiple clone sources.
We’ll start by creating a positional sketch using Painter’s Woodcut filter, and then use some custom brushes and Painter’s Clone Colour capabilities to create the finished oil sketch. This is a great way to develop your confidence with brushes, your ability to simplify complex subjects, and train your eye for effective use of tonality in your paintings.
You get the full demonstration here, showing every single step of the painting process, along with a wonderful source image from Julianne Jonker, and my own custom brush variants.
