-STARVING IN THE GARRET-

Traditional fine art by Tim Shelbourne

Traditional painting and drawing has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Throughout my childhood and adolescence, I was fortunate enough to be taught and mentored by my uncle, a remarkably gifted and hard-working commercial artist. To this very day I can remember the thrill I felt when I first discovered that I could sit down with a pencil or a brush, and create something from nothing. From that moment on, creating fine art has been one of the few constants in my life, and I’m never happier than when I’m at a drawing board or an easel.
Although I had no formal art school training, I’m grateful that my focus was always determinedly pushed towards the discipline of acute observation, good drawing, the craft of good painting, and constant study and practice. Just like any other painter, I continue to hone my craft every day, and every stroke of the brush and every swipe of the pencil continues to thrill that child who just loved to draw.
In recent years I’ve delighted in exploring digital painting, and you’ll find a huge selection of my digital painting tutorials right here at http://Theartistsquarter.com. Nevertheless, recently I’ve also allowed myself more time to pursue my first love, painting traditionally from scratch, so I’ve decided to post my most recent traditional paintings here.
Each one of these paintings is for sale, and you can browse them by clicking the thumbnails below. I will update this gallery with every new painting I complete. I also have many drawings which I’ll be posting here in the near future.
You may choose to purchase one of these original paintings, and I’ll be delighted and honoured if you decide to do so. Every one of these is a little bit of myself.
If you’d like to commission a painting, or you have any questions about my painting in this gallery, please contact me via the contact form here.
Thank you for viewing my work.
